Turki Alalshikh (pictured), the chairman of the General Entertainment Authority of Saudi Arabia and the most powerful man in boxing, has tweeted a new announcement about the suerfight between world super middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and undefeated multi-division champion Terence Crawford. Alashikh said, "We have confirmed the promoter for Canelo v. Crawford will be Sela for Riyadh Season. The broadcaster we have not decided yet but the date will be Saturday 13th September." The tweet did not mention anything about the Las Vegas venue Alalshikh previously announced. 

 

This latest tweet contradicts Alalshikh's tweet from fourteen days prior (May 4th), when he named a different promoter: "We will deliver the fight of the century with Riyadh Season on September 12th at Las Vegas' Allegiant Stadium. The legend Canelo Alvarez defends his [undisputed world super middleweight championship] vs. the great Terence Crawford. The television platform will be announced soon with big surprise. My brother Dana White [of UFC] will promote this first TKO boxing event with me. It will be something crazy." TKO is the parent company of UFC, the world's leading mixed martial arts promoter. UFC has its UFC 320 show scheduled for Mexico on September 13th.
