Promoter Don King and the Sela Company, along with Turki Alalshikh have come to an agreement to have WBC cruiserweight champion Badou Jack (pictured) defend against former champion and now champion-in-recess Noel Mikaelian a/k/a Norair Mikaelian on May 3rd in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.Mikaelian will attempt to reclaim his championship out of recess after the WBC awarded the title to Jack. Mikaelian will step in for the injured Ryan Rozicki, the WBC mandatory contender who won’t be able to compete because of an injury sustained in training. The fight will be part of the Canelo Alvarez vs. William Scull fight card. Jack is 28-3-3 and hasn’t fought in two years, since he captured the crown on February 26, 2023. He was demoted to champion-in-recess, but then had his championship status revived when Mikaelian was demoted to recess. Mikaelian is 27-2 and has not fought since November 4, 2023.
