Japan's Yoshida, coming off a loss, gets short-notice title shot

DiBella Entertainment announced that former 115-pound champion Miyo Yoshida (16-4) of Kagoshima, Japan, will attempt to become a two-division champion on short notice when she challenges Ebanie Bridges (9-1, 4 KOs) for the IBF bantamweight title in San Francisco. Bridges-Yoshida will take place on the undercard of the Devin Haney-Regis Prograis WBA 140-pound championship fight at the Chase Center in San Francisco. The womens' bout will open up the DAZN pay-per-view broadcast beginning at 8pm EST. Yoshida, who previously held the WBO super flyweight title twice, was a late replacement for Bridges’ original opponent.  Yoshida, who is coming off a November loss to Shuretta Metcalf one month ago said, “a year ago, I moved to New York City with my daughter, and I am very honored to have been given the opportunity to compete for the world title in such a short period of time I left my stable life in Japan and came to the US with a strong determination to become a world boxing champion again in the United States. That dream is now becoming a reality. Ebanie Bridges is a great champion, but I want to prove by becoming a champion again that dreams always can come true if you don’t give up.”

The Australian Bridges will be making the second defense of the title she won in 2022.
