The WBC reports the untimely death of José Briegel “Gallito” Quirino, listed at just 24 years old. A bantamweight from Mexico, Quirino was was shot in Tijuana on Thursday afternoon and passed away at a hospital soon after. He had a professional record of 20-3-3, with his biggest win coming in 2018 against former 115-pound title holder Hernan Marquez. The last time Quirino stepped into the ring was on February 23, 2019 at the Tijuana Municipal Auditorium, a split decision loss to Joel Cordova.
