On September 1st, VADA, the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association, issued a short social media statement that former three-belt heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua was free of any illegal or banned substances during last month's win over Robert Helenius. VADA wrote: "Congratulations to Anthony Joshua for successfully completing VADA testing through his August 12, 2023 bout." Helenius, however, did not successfully complete the testing program, turning up positive in a test result announced after his knockout loss. Helenius was a late replacement for Dillian Whyte, who also failed a VADA test.
