Late result: Callum Walsh survives scare to win

Callum Walsh W10 Ismael Villareal,,, "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth" is an often repeated phrase in the sport of boxing. The ability to remain composed when a boxer gets stunned is perhaps the most important characteristic that separates a contender from a pretender. On Thursday, November 9th at the Hulu Theatre in New York City's Madison Square Garden, Irish junior middleweight Callum Walsh (9-0, 7 KOs) proved that he had the fortitude to handle adversity with composure. Knocked down by iron fisted Ismael Villarreal (13-2,11 KOss), Walsh got up, showed no signs of discouragement and used footwork and boxing to keep his worthy opponent at bay. He employed this tactic for the next 90 seconds, with Villarreal following him around the ring and eating jabs for his trouble. Walsh then began to open up once again in the final thirty seconds of the bout. The 22 year old from Cork, Ireland handled adversity well en route to a unanimous decision win. Props to Villarreal for a whale of a performance as well. Hope to see both of them back soon in the near future.
