Late result: Cobbs effectively ends Broner's career

Blair Cobbs W10 Adrien Broner... For the second time in two weeks, an American boxing star from the prior decade appeared to reach the end of their professional rope. Last week, former WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder was knocked out by Zhilei Zhang in Saudi Arabia. On Friday, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida, Blair “The Flair” Cobbs (pictured) effectively ended the career of former four-division champion Adrien Broner. Both Broner and Wilder were mainstays of the Premier Boxing Champions / Showtime axis for years. Coming off a 22-month layoff, Cobbs put an end to any thoughts of a Broner renaissance. Cobbs scored a second-round knockdown and went on to a unanimous decision victory by scores of 97-91 and 96-93 (twice). Cobbs is now 17-1-1 and we'll see if legendary promoter Don King has the ability to land him a big fight. Broner is now 35-5-1 but with well-documented legal and financial troubles, he will probably continue to chase down some paydays.
