Former 140-pound titleholder Sergey Lipinets, who lost to Jaron "Boots" Ennis in 2021, defended Ennis against criticism that Ennis dominated, but did not stop Karen Chukhadzhian in an IBF interim welterweight title fight on Satirday. Lipinets tweeted: "Boxing is [a] brutal and unforgiving sport. All of a sudden everyone is on Jaron Ennis' case. I can't even imagine how much I would suffer against someone like Karen. Boots just beat him from pole to pole. Please. It's boxing, of course your gonna get hit once or twice."
Meanwhile, Ennis reaction is: “I learned to just take my time and to not rush anything. I’m glad I went twelve rounds. It felt great. I just needed to throw a little more punches.”
