Munguia avenges loss to Surace

Jamie Munguia W12 Bruno Surace... Mexico's Jamie Munguia gained a measure of revenge against France's Bruno Surace, winning their rematch by unanmous decision in Saudi Arabia. Munguia won the twelve-round super middleweight contest by scores of 116-112 and 117-111 (twice). Munguia also won the Compubox tally, outlanding Surace 105 punches to 64. Munguia, a former 154-pound title holder, is now 45-2 with 35 KOs. Afterwards,  Munguia mentioned Edgar Belanga and former champ Caleb Plant as men he'd like to face next. Surace suffers his first pro loss and falls to 26-1-2 with 5 KOs.

Back in December, Surace stunned the boxing world when he went on the road and knocked out Munguia with a right hand in the sixth round in Munguia's hometown of Tijuana, Mexico. How big was this upset? Munguia is a former 154-pound champion and has only been defeated by the great Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and now Surace. Besides going into Munguia's hometown for the knockout, Surace had only 4 KO wins in 27 prior fights. He was also a middleweight fighting above his optimal weight class.
