Jaime Munguia W12 Armando Resendiz ... With a sharp, dominant performance, Jaime Munguia of Tijuana, became a two-time, two-division champion defeating fellow Mexican Armando “Toro” Resendiz on the Ramirez-Benavidez undercard at T-Mobile Arena, in Las Vegas. The championship contest was fought for the WBA super middleweight world title vacated by Terence Crawford upon his retirement. Though Munguia, 167.4 lbs., spent the entire fight on the backfoot and committed to countering, he was busier and more effective, throwing each combination with painful intentions. Resendiz, 167 lbs., of South Gate, California, was game and pressed forward but had little to deter his more experienced adversary’s focus. Munguia outlanded Resendiz 199 to 121 in total punches. After twelve rounds, scorecards read 120-108, 119-109 and 117-111, all for Munguia, who is now now 46-2 with 35 KOs). Munguia previously held the WBO junior middleweight crown from 2018-2020, making five title defenses. Resendiz is now 16-3 (11 KOs).
