Ricardo Malajika W12 Tomoya Tsuboi...   South Africa’s Ricardo Malajika (18–2, 12 KOs) accomplished a rare feat in boxing.. a South African winning a world title on foreign soil. Malajika was crowned the new WBC super flyweight champion after earning a points victory over local fighter Tomoya Tsuboi (3–1, 1 NC, 2 KOs) in a bout that filled the vacancy left by American Jesse “Bam”  Rodríguez, who has moved up in weight. The fight proved hard fought and dynamic, with Tsuboi driving the offensive initiative for nearly the entirety of the match. For his part, Malajika opted for a sharper counter-punching strategy, capitalizing on his superior agility and reach. Although the duel lacked a dominant force landing explosive, game-changing blows, the South African raised his work rate with greater intensity in the final rounds. After twelve rounds, the judges’ verdict came down as a split decision: the American officials tilted the scales in favor of the visitor with scores of 116–112 and 115–113, while a third judge scored it 115–113 for the home fighter, sealing Malajika’s coronation on Japanese soil.
