Open scoring means the official scorecards are revealed to the boxers' corners during certain points in a fight. The standard scoring system sees the official scorecards revealed only after a fight is over. The first Italian championship with open scoring was held last week with clear results The fight was for the Italian heavyweight title in Scandicci (Florence-Firenze) Saturday, September 28th, under the promotion of Rosanna Conti Cavini. Eduardo Giustini (16-3) was crowned national heavyweight champion after defeating former champion Gianmarco Cardillo (12-1-2) in an exciting fight with scores of 98-93 and 98-92 (twice).

 

At the moment in Italy the open scoring is announced at the end of the third and seventh round. A small variation is being studied to ensure that the sixth round is used and not the seventh, given that all the national championships in Italy are held over the ten round distance.
