R.I.P. former European cruiserweight champion Patrice Aouissi

Former European cruiserweight champion Patrice Aouissi has died. Just 57, Aouissi succumbed to a stroke. A 1992 Olympian from France, Aouissi compiled a pro record of 24-6. In 1995, he won European laurels vs. respected Alexander Gurov and defended his title against Valery Vykhor before losing the title back to Gurov. In 1996, he was competitive in a WBC 190-pound world title bid vs. Marcelo Dominguez but got stopped in round ten. The following year, he lost to future champion, Johnny Nelson.
