Referee Enzo Montero passes away at age 71

The WBA announced the death of Venezuelan referee and boxing judge Enzo Montero, who passed away on Monday, November 13th at the age of 71.  As a referee, he worked many world title fights, often in the lower weight classes. He was the third man in the ring for title fights involving Michael Nunn, Wilfredo Vazquez, Genaro Hernandez, Hiroko Ioka, Saen Sor Ploenchit, Keitaro Hoshino, Daorung Chuwatana, Jorge Castro and Luisito Espinosa. Montero, a native of the state of Zulia, died of an infection after having been hospitalized for several days in a local medical center, according to the WBA's contacts.  His career as a referee spanned from 1984 to 2011.
