Report: Uzcategui fails drug test; Davis will now face Benavidez

Former two-time WBC super middleweight champion David “El Bandera Roja” Benavídez will make his homecoming return to Phoenix against 168-pound contender Kyrone Davis in a ten-round match that headlines live on Showtime on Saturday, November 13th in a Premier Boxing Champions event from Footprint Center.  Benavídez was originally scheduled to face former IBF champion Jose Uzcátegui, who was forced to withdraw due to a failed pre-fight drug test. [ESPN reports that Uzcategui tested positive for the banned substance recombinant erythropoietin (rEPO)]. The Showtime telecast begins at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT and will feature the return of José Benavídez, the older brother of David Benavídez, facing Argentina’s Francisco Emanuel Torres in the ten-round co-feeature at junior middleweight.
