Taiga Imanaga W10 Shuma Nakazato... On Sunday at the Sumiyoshi Hall in Osaka, Japan promotional outfit MUTO presented a fight card that saw two new OPBF monarchs owned in high-intensity battles. In the main event for the OPBF lightweight title, regional contender Taiga Imanaga became the new champion by dethroning Shuma Nakazato via majority decision. It was a highly contested, purely strategic clash that came down to the judges’ scorecards after ten rounds. While judge Masato Umemura scored the bout a 95-95 draw, Testy Iida (96-94) and Junji Noda (97-93) tipped the scales in favor of Imanaga, awarding him a well-deserved victory. The matchup was refereed by Masahiro Noda and overseen by supervisor Tsuyoshi Yasukochi.
Toshiya Ishii TKO5 Kaito Yamasaki ... Meanwhile, the OPBF 122-pound division found a new ruler in Toshiya Ishii, who put on a display of power by stopping Kaito Yamasaki (11-2-1) via technical knockout in the fifth round. In winning the vacant title, Ishii took control from the opening bell, wearing down Yamasaki until referee Nobuto Ikehara halted the action at 2:46 mark of round five to protect the fighter’s integrity. Ishii's career mark is now 11-2-2.
