Results from Tijuana: Picasso improves to 20-0

David Picasso TKO6 César Ignacio Paredes ... Mexican super bantamweight David “Rey” Picasso triumphed by technical knockout after six rounds against Peru's César Ignacio Paredes. They fought on a Zanfer Promociones show in Tijuana. Picasso (20-0-1, 9 KOs) was patient but as the rounds went by, his dominance became clearer. In round six, Paredes (15-4-1, 5 KOs) was hurt twice, once with an uppercut, and then by a combination to the body and face. Paredes' corner held him out for the seventh round.
Omar Salcido TKO4 Josué Estrada ... Lightweight Omar Salcido stopped Josué “Violento” Estrada in the fourth round, despite Estrada offering good resistance. Salcido (16-0-0, 11 KOs) had a reach advantage but he also excelled in close-quarters fighting. Estrada (6-1-0, 3 KOs) exchanged blows, but his defense was very vulnerable. Salcido landed a powerful combination to the face that sent Estrada to the canvas in the third round. Salcido tried to finish him off and although he landed power shots, his rival was able to finish the round on his feet. However, it was just a matter of time, and in the fourth round, after a powerful combination to the face that pushed Estrada back, the referee determined that it was enough, and stopped the fight.
