Super featherweight Ricardo “Científico” Núñez (23-3 with 21 KOs) was chosen as the 2021 Boxer of the Year in Panama. In 2019, Núñez lost to Gervonta "Tank" Davis and did not fight in 2020. But in 2021, he returned to fight twice. On both occasions he won by stoppage, defeating Alfredo Santiago (13-2) in May and Richard Solano (25-3-2) in October. “This distinction motivates me to continue working, to continue doing things well and to look for another opportunity to be crowned world champion”, said Núñez to the newspaper Crítica de Panamá.
