Rodriguez and Cafu to unify at super flyweight

American Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez will face a new challenge in his career, this time a super flyweight unification fight, on July 19th, on a card presented by Matchroom at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas, which will be broadcast worldwide on DAZN. Rodriguez (pictured) is 21-0 with 14 KOs and holds the WBC 115-pound championship. He will face his WBO counterpart, South Africa's Phumelela Cafu, whose records is listed at 11-0-3, with 8 KOs. Rodríguez, age 25, from San Antonio, Texas, is looking to become undisputed champion in a division where WBA champion Fernando “Puma” Martínez also shines, and Marinez has already commented that hie will be getting being ready for the winner of this fight. [The IBF title is held by Masimichi Yabuki].

Rodríguez will enter this fight after rapidly defeating Mexican Pedro Guevara last November. Meanwhile, Cafu, age 26, is coming off a surprising 115-pound title win in an October 2024 clash against Kosei Tanaka in Tanaka's home nation of Japan.
