Popular lightweight Ryan Garcia tweeted that his next opponent has been decided: "I wanna thank Emmanuel Tagoe for taking this fight, no one wanted to fight me because they assumed I wouldn’t fight… I respect you and let’s give everyone a fight." Garcia's Twitter account also reads, "next fight, April 9th on DAZN." Tagoe was a legitimate lightweight contender but has not fought since 2020. He is 32-1 with the lone loss coming in his pro debut all the way back in 2004. 

 

As for Garcia's claim that no one wants to fight him, former IBF 130-pound champion Tevin Farmer recently expressed interest in fighting Garcia. Farmer's response:  "Everybody keep asking me. Yes we had talks with Garcia camp. We actually had talks with Golden Boy Boxing. I was looking forward to the fight. They never hit us back... There you go, if you know, you know. I’m solid. I don’t lie about these things."
