Sanchez stops Chavez in battle of unbeatens

Jose Sanchez TKO10 Jorge Chavez... In a battle of unbeaten super bantamweights as part of the Ramirez-Benavidez undercard from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Jose Tito “The Body Snatcher” Sanchez emerged victorious following an exciting battle against Mexican Jorge “El Nino Durado” Chavez. Chavez, 122 lbs., of San Diego, pulled ahead early as the busier fighter, boxing on his toes and landing flurries. Sanchez fought well in spots with his own blazing combinations. However, it was in the trenches where Sanchez, 121.2 lbs., of Cathedral City, California, shined. By the second half, with Chavez less mobile, Sanchez was able to take over, engaging his foe in close quarters. Though Sanchez held the edge in these moments, Chavez never backed down, perfectly willing to exchange his own crisp, pinpoint combinations as best he could. In the final minute of the tenth and final round, two overhand right-left hook combinations dropped Chavez hard. He arose on wobbly legs and was given a chance to continue. The Joel Diaz-trained Sanchez sent Chavez back to the floor with a flurry leading to referee Allen Huggins halting the bout at 2:30 of the stanza. With the win, Sanchez is now 16-0 with 10 KOs. Coming from a boxing family, Sanchez’s father was a professional boxer and his younger brother is an active fighter as well. Tasting defeat for the first time, Chavez is now 15-1-1 with 8 KOs.
