Our resident
fourteen year-old fight predictor got 'em both right yesterday, and now is back for more with six fight picks for Saturday, three on each side of the pond:
Gabriel Maestre vs. Mykal Fox (WBA interim welterweight title)...Prediction: Fox MD12
Two-time Venezuelan Olympian Gabriel Maestre faces a late replacement, the battle-tested Mykal Fox, for the WBA interim welterweight world championship. Maestre is coming off a first-round knockout victory over Daniel Vega Cota, whilst Fox is coming off a unanimous decision defeat to Lucas Santamaria. I see the first half of the fight belongong to Maestre before his gas tank wears out. At that point, Fox will start to effectively box on the outside and win a majority of the rest of the rounds to take home the beltt by majority decision. I can envision scores of 116-112, 115-113, and 114-114.
Eimantis Stanionis vs. Luis Collazo (welterweights)... Prediction: Stanionis by decision
Undefeated LIthuanian Olympian Eimantis Stanionis battles former WBA welterweight champion Luis Collazo in a ten-round welterweight bout. Stanionis is coming off a (thus-far) career-defining unanimous decision victory over Thomas Dulorme, whilst Collazo is coming off a fairly one sided technical decision defeat at the hands of Kudratillo Abdukakhorov. I see this being a fire fight where both fighters will exchange often with Stanionis getting the better of the exchanges. I believe that Collazo will go the distance but lose to Stanionis by unanimous decision. I can envision scores of 99-91, 98-92, and 97-93.
Kid Galahad vs. James Dickens 2 (IBF featherweight)... Prediction: Galahad by late stoppage
The vacant IBF featherweight title is up for grabs as Kid Galahad rematches Jazza Dickens. The firs encounter was won by Galahad but that was way back in 2013. More recently, Galahad's last outing was an eighth-round stoppage victory over Claudio Marrero, whilst Dickens is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Ryan Walsh. I see this fight swaying in favor of Galahad, who will dictate the pace of the fight using his jab to ultimately stop Dickens somewhere in the range of rounds eight to round twelve, similar to how he did in their first fight.
Fabio Wardley vs. Nick Webb (heavyweights)... Prediction: Wardley by early KO
Undefeated heavyweight hopeful Fabio Wardley battles hard-hitting Nick Webb in a ten-round heavyweight bout. Wardley is coming off a fifth-round knockout victory over Eric Molina, whilst Webb is coming off a big second round knockout victory over Erik Pfeifer. I see both fighters going for a knockout early on with Webb getting caught with a huge Wardley right hand from rounds one to round five that will drop and stop him.
Alen Babic vs. Mark Bennett... Prediction: Babic by early KO
Exciting heavyweight Alen Babic battles Mark Bennett in an eight-round heavyweight bout. Babic is coming off an explosive third-round knockout victory over Damian Chambers, whilst Bennett is coming off a unanimous decision defeat to Nick Webb. I see this fight being one sided in favor of Babic, who will come out swinging in the first couple rounds, ultimately catching and knocking out Bennett from rounds one to round five.
Devon Alexander vs. Lucas Santamaria... Prediction: Santamaria UD10
Former two-division champion Devon Alexander looks to get back on the winning track as he battles tough and rugged welterweight contender Lucas Santamaria in a ten-round welterweight bout. Alexander is coming off a shock sixth-round knockout loss to Ivan Redkach in 2019, whilst Santamaria is coming off a controversial decision loss to Paul Kroll. Alexander has not only been inactive for just over two years, he hasn’t won a fight since late 2017. I think he simply won’t be ready for the underdog Santamaria’s pressure fighting style. I see this fight going the full ten rounds with Santamaria picking up a unanimous decision victory. I can envision scores of 97-93 and 96-94 (twice).
