Scull purse bid postponed for one week

UPDATE: The IBF announced that Saul Alvarez vs. William Scull super middleweight purse bid scheduled for Thursday, June 6th has been postponed for one week. This purse bid is now scheduled for Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 12:00 EST.  Original story, 5/28/24: A virtual unknown, William Scull, will either get the next shot at world super middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez or Alvarez will be stripped of the IBF title. Scull, an unbeaten but untested Cuban fighting out of Germany, will learn his fate soon, as the IBF has scheduled a purse bid for Alvarez-Scull in little more than a week. Alvarez is not expected to agree to fight Scull so the next IBF title fight at 168 pounds could be Scull vs. #2 rated Vladimir Shishkin for the vacant title. The IBF notice to all eligible promoters read: "On May 13, 2024 the IBF ordered Saul Alvarez and William Scull to begin negotiations for the IBF super middleweight mandatory defense. On May 22, 2024 Mr. Hagen Doering representing William Scull requested an immediate purse bid because an agreement could not be reached. The IBF is ordering a purse bid in these offices on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at 12:00 PM EST. Bids must be submitted at 11:45 AM EST to be promptly opened at 12:00 PM."
