Teresa Tapia to promote June 8th event in Albuquerque

Teresa Tapia of Tapia Promotions is set to bring "Gloves On, Grudges Gone" to the Land of Enchantment on Saturday night June 8th in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  The event will feature four bareknuckle bouts from the BKFC Prospects series and four professional boxing bouts.  The event stems from the vision of the legendary Johnny "Mi Vida Loca" Tapia himself as carried out by his widow Teresa.  The Tapia family spoke about how Johnny was always saddened by the problems that plagued New Mexicans such as violence, drugs, and homelessness, and at the height of his career he even created a program “Tickets for Guns” in order to save as many of his New Mexicans as possible.  "As his widow, and fellow New Mexican, it is my goal to continue the great legacy that Johnny left behind" said Teresa Tapia, who is promoting the event. The goal of the program is for the youth to not resort to violence in the streets and settle issues in a controlled environment.  The program also features mentorship programs and outreach initiatives. The pro boxing will include Albuquerque talents Donald Sanchez, Cody East, Jason Sanchez and Johnny Tapia protege Josh "Pitbull" Torres.  The action will take place at the Isleta Resort/Casino in Albuquerque.  Doors open at 3PM.

Tickets are available at the Isleta Casino box office and Isleta.com.  Boxingtalk writer Christian Schmidt is set to be the ring announcer.
