Tonight: Kim Clavel moves down to minimumweight

Tonight (Thursday), ex-junior flyweight champion Kim Clavel will face Mexico's Anabel Ortiz at the Montreal Casino in Canada. Clavel entered the ring on three occasions during 2024, winning each of the fights. It should be noted that she has been a 108-pound boxer for seven years, but on this occasion she will fight at minimumweight (105 pounds). The Canadian fighter has a record of 20-2 with 3 KOs, and her most recent fight was last November, defeating Katherine Renee Lindenmuth. Clavel's career highlight came in 2022 when she won the WBC crown against Yesenia Gomez. She went into an immediate unification bout vs. Yesica Nery Plata and lost her title. Ortiz has a record of 34-7 with 4 KOs, her last appearance coming at the Toronto Casino Resort, against Sara Bailey, who gave her the seventh defeat of her career by unanimous decision last December. On Wednesday both fighters passed the official weigh-in. Clavel registered 104.6 pounds.; while Ortiz stopped the scale at 103.6. The fight is promoted by Grupo Yvon Michel and will be broadcast through Gymboxe.TV.
