Boxingtalk's Ivan Montiel spoke briefly to WBA welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas about his relationship with former champion Felix "Tito" Trinidad. Here is their exchange:
Ivan Montiel: Yordenis, I have two questions for you now that you’ve been able to talk to Felix Trinidad. Question one is how motivated are you with the advice you’ve just received from Tito?
Yordenis Ugas: Before my Manny Pacquiao fight [which Ugas won], Tito sent me a video of himself wishing me good luck. At that time, that was a great motivation for me. Tito’s one of the best fighters in history. It’s an honor being able to talk with him going into this historical fight.
IM: Now if you beat Errol Spence on April 16th, could we see you fight WBO champion Terence Crawford next for all four belts?
YU: Well the most brilliant thing about his fight is that the winner of this fight should fight Crawford. That is what I want to do, but I am focused on this fight. This is a tough fight which I have on April 16th and my mind is set until that date.
IM: This question is for [Showtime commentator and former 154-pound champion] Raul Marquez. Raul, since we have both yourself and Trinidad on this call at the same time, how nice it would’ve been to see a fight between you two back in the day.
Raul Marquez: You know me, I always tried to fight the best. I would have been up for the tough challenge.
