WBA creates another bogus title this weekend

The WBA is creating yet another meaningless interim title. This weekend, John Ryder (27-4) and Bilal Akkawy (20-0-1) will face off for the vacant interim WBA super middleweight title. The fighters, who hail from Britain and Australia, will enter the ring at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas in suport of the world middleweight title fight between Saul Alvarez and Daniel Jacobs. The WBA already recognizes Callum Smith as the division's super champion and Alvarez as its regular champion, which in itself is a bogus designation. Ryder has losses to Billy Joe Saunders, Rocky Fielding plus two lesser boxers on the British domestic scene.
