WBA orders Tank Davis to face Rolly Romero

The WBA Championships Committee has ordered its regular lightweight champion Gervonta "Tank" Davis to defend against undefeated former WBA interim title holder Rolando Romero. The WBA says that formal communication were sent to both teams and the boxers now have thirty days, through February 24th, to reach an agreement or face a purse bid. Davis vs. Romero had been previously ordered and scheduled for December 5th but accusations of sexual assault against Romero prevented the bout from taking place. Davis instead defeated Isaac Cruz in his most recent fight. Prosecutors then declined to press charges against Romero after conducting an investigation.

Davis holds the WBA's secondary title, as the WBA's super championship belongs to undisputed world champion George Kambosos of Australia.
