WBA orders Usyk to face Dubois

[Although WBA/WBO/IBF heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk is expected to unify with WBC champion Tyson Fury in early 2023,] the WBA), through its Championships Committee, ordered the mandatory heavyweight bout between Usyk and WBA regular champion Daniel Dubois during the WBA Convention in Orlando, Florida this Monday. Usyk’s period to make his fight mandatory is twelve months and the Ukrainian monarch won the title last September 25, 2021. That means that [if the WBA does not grant an exemption in the future,] his period expired this September 24, 2022 and now he must fight Dubois [or risk being stripped of the WBA belt]. Both will have thirty days to negotiate the fight from this December 12th, which was ordered [extended?] until next January 30th. If the parties do not reach an agreement on the estimated date or either side refuses to do so, the WBA will send the fight to purse bid.
