WBA removes Usyk's championship recognition; now down to three champs in the division

According to the WBA, world cruiserweight champion Oleksandr Usyk wrote a personal letter to the WBA informing the sanctioning body that he intends to move up to the heavyweight division. The WBA, which corruptly recognized four simultaneous champions at cruiserweight, quickly declared Usyk's super championship vacant. Usyk's first heavywegiht bout has not been announced yet. The WBA wrote: "Given the new circumstances in the future of Usyk’s career, the purse bid that had been announced by the champions committee between Usyk’s team and his would-be opponent Russia’s very own Denis Lebedev is now suspended." The WBA ridiculously recognized Lebedev as its "champion in recess" even though Lebedev was defeated by Murat Gassiev.  The WBA never recognized Gassiev but bestowed a regular championship on Beibut Sumenov and an interim title (remaned the "gold" title") on Arsen Goulamirian.  Boxingtalk will continue to recognize Usyk as the world cruiserweight champion until he completes his first fight in a different weight class and then states his intent to remain in the new weight class.
