WBC reinstates Ryan Garcia

The WBC announced that its Board of Governors has voted to lift the suspension imposed upon boxer Ryan Garcia for his use pf performance enhancing substances in his last fight, which was against two-division champion Devin Haney. The WBC claimed the decision came after a "successful and properly documented process that has been thoroughly evaluated." Garcia appeared to hand Haney his first pro loss in April of 2024 but the result was changed to a no contest after the positive test. Garcia was rewarded for his cheating with a WBA welterweight title shot earlier this year, but lost that to Rollie Romero.

WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán shared the following statement regarding the resolution: “The WBC Board of Governors has voted in favor of lifting the suspension on Ryan Garcia after his successful and documented process. The WBC has been very close to Ryan, his family, his management team, and promoter, and we are confident that he will start a new life inside and outside the ring. We welcome you with open arms and trust that you will be an ambassador for the new generation.”
