On May 13th, Australia's Jason Moloney won the vacant WBO bantamweight championship via majority decision against Vincent Astrolabio. This bout was held at the Stockton Arena, in Stockton, California. The following day, there were boxing press reports that Moloney suffered a broken hand during the bout. The injury was subsequently confirmed by Moloney himself. Therefore, earlier this week, the WBO issued an order to Moloney that within five days, he was required to submit a physician’s certification, which should include an explanation of his condition as well as the recovery prognosis including the physician’s opinion as to when can Moloney is expected to return to active training and competition. (The WBO also wished a prompt and speedy recovery).
