Dave Allen NC1 Thomas Carty... In the chief supporting bout at Ireland's Croke Park, British heavyweight Dave Allen wound up getting an easy pay day against local man Thomas Carty. The action had to be stopped after Carty fell out the ring in the first round. It was a clinch on the ropes that saw Carty take a bad landing. He received medical attention, and it was soon apparent that  could not continue. The result was a no contest, the right call by the referee. The bout lasted less than half a round.

 

Joe McGrail KO5 Matthew Boreland... British super bantamweight Joe McGrail put his punching power on full display with a fifth-round knockout victory over Ireland’s Matthew Boreland. From the opening bell, McGrail  (14-0) set the tone inside the ring. Working behind an effective jab that opened the door for combinations at mid-range, the champion gradually began breaking down Boreland’s resistance. Boreland (7-1) came prepared to stand his ground and engage in exchanges, but his defensive lapses proved costly against the champion’s speed and accuracy. The finish had been building throughout the early rounds, as McGrail consistently invested in body work and slowly wore down his opponent. In the fifth round, after cutting off the ring and trapping Boreland against the ropes, McGrail unleashed a combination capped by a hook to the liver that left the challenger unable to continue.
