Ryan Garcia KO8 Oscar Duarte... Ryan Garcia knocked out Oscar Duarte in the eighth round of a junior welterweight main event in Houston. Garcia won most of the rounds except for stretches when he tried to employ an awkward version of the Floyd Mayweather shoulder roll, a move that didn't work out for him. Still, Garcia lost no more than two rounds. In round eight, he hurt and floored Duarte. With the referee counting right in Duarte's face, Duarte jumped up at the count of nine and half and the referee determined it was too late. Duarte only complained for a moment, a tacit admission that he had tasted enough of Garcia's power. The loser's record now stands at 26-2-1. Garcia is now 24-1 and back in the win column after getting stopped by Gervonta "Tank" Davis earlier this year. After the fight, Garcia called out trash-talking Rollie Romoero, the WBA junior welterweight title holder whose status as a champion seems to be under review.

Duarte said afterweards, "It wasn't my night but I am going to continue moving forward with my head held high..."
