Venezuela's Mayerlin Rivas, the WBA super bantamweight champion, will defend her title today (Saturday) against Erika Cruz at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood, California. Rivas (17-4-3), age 35, weighed in at 121.8 pounds. She will be making the third defense of the title she won in 2020. Cruz (16-3), age 35 and a former featherweight champion moving down a weight class, weighed in exactly at the super bantamweight limit of 122. The 34 year-old Mexican fights out of a southpaw stance and is coming off a victory over Melissa Parker in September, which was preceded by a fight against Amanda Serrano in April.
