Wlodarczyk, age 44, wins interim bridgerweight belt

Krzysztof Wlodarczyk W10 Adam Balski... In an all-Polish bridgerweight battle, Krzysztof “Diablo” Wlodarczyk defeated a bloody Adam Balski via tenth-round technical knockout at the Hala Sportowo-Widowiskowa Arena in Poland. The 44 year-old Wlodarczyk, who had two reigns as a cruiserweight champion, acquired the WBC’s interim bridgerweight belt plus the right to challenge WBC champion Keven Lerena.  The winner's pro record is now 66-4-1. The early rounds went to Balski (20-3), while Wlodarczyk tried to save his strength and limited himself to defending. In the fifth round, Balski’s left hook caught “Diablo” on the head, sending him to the canvas. The next two rounds were evenly matched, but at the end of the eighth, it was Balski who was knocked down. Both boxers lost some steam, but in the tenth round, another left hook caught Balski to the jaw, sending him to the ground again. The referee started the count, but seeing Adam’s condition, decided to end the fight.
