Yamileth Mercado W10 Kudakwashe Chiwandire... WBC super bantamweight champion Yamileth Mercado retained her title defeating interim champion Kudakwashe Chiwandire (6-3-1) at the Manuel Bernardo Aguirre gym by unanimous decision. The fight began with both warily studying each other, Chiwandire stood in the center of the ring, however, she could not land with power. But in the second round, Mercado took the initiative, with Chiwandire putting up a good defense. By mid-fight, Mercado was landing more consistently and edging a slight advantage, as announced by the judges, through the WBC open scoring system. Final scores were 100-90, 99-91 and 98-92. With this victory, Mercado improved to 21-3 and is one of the longest reigning champions, having held her crown since 2019.
